The Society of Northern Alberta Print-Artists (SNAP) and Alberta Printmakers (A/P) are collaborating to celebrate Alberta Culture Days 2020 across the province. While Calgary and Edmonton may often be pitted as rivals in Alberta, SNAP and A/P are joining together to offer a variety of free, interactive, and engaging online printmaking programming for all ages.

The events will kick off with Artist Presentations on Saturday, September 19 all day, with printmaking demonstrations from September 22 – 25, and finishing off with an online Print Party on Saturday, September 26. Stay tuned for RSVP information!

Artist Presentations: Meet the Artist

Watch all of the presentations at once for an art-filled day or enjoy the presentations at your own pace via A/P’s and SNAP’s websites linking to SNAP Gallery’s YouTube Channel following the September 19 release.

Printmaking Demonstrations & Tutorials

Enjoy four behind-the-scenes printmaking demonstrations that feature A/P and SNAP facilities before showing you hands-on ways to achieve similar results by printing from home. Over the course of four consecutive evenings (Tuesday, September 22 – Friday, September 25), you will experience a comprehensive guide to printmaking and the various processes involved in techniques such as screen printing, intaglio, lithography, and monotype. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate and learn from professional artists who will take you through the steps of printing before showing you how to adjust the techniques and materials to successfully print at home.

The ‘at-home’ portion of each demonstration will touch on child-friendly techniques and will use a range of supplies that are readily available and accessible. A supply list will be provided in advance if participants would like to print along at home.

*All four of these programs are INTENDED FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY particularly the at-home portions.
