"The Obscure friendship of the Ostrich and the Octopus" Etching with chine colle Jennifer Byrnes is a 4th year undergrad student studying Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo. She created these prints during a second year print class assignment with the intention that some would end up in this exchange. She considers herself a multi-disciplinary artist but closely relates the majority of her work to painting. This print is a commentary on the notion of land vs. water.

Cooper received her MFA from Cornell University, specializing in the disciplines of print, short film, and installation. "Hawk and Hound: Mark I" Serigraph Generally, many of us view order and chaos as a dichotomy, but rather, I find that they exist symbiotically. In the past, I have focused on the creation of mostly objective representational images. In this series I have created works that focus on the concept of abstraction. The phrase that has served as the basis or fracture point for evolution in this series is also its title: "A Pack of Wolves, a Flock of Birds".

When she was 27 she attended an exhibition of Richard Steiner's print studio, and later joined his class. Marriage and raising children have caused a 20 year break, but she never lost her desire to study, and is now happy to be back making woodblock prints.
